Early Childhood Educator

The YMCA of Cape Breton is hiring an Early Childhood Educator for its Guysborough childcare centre. Reporting to the Centre Director, the ECE creates a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment, plans and implements the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, designs indoor and outdoor learning environments that support emotional and social development, uses a variety of teaching techniques, communicates concerns to the director and co‑workers, works collaboratively with the team, attends monthly staff meetings and professional development, supervises student placements, organizes the classroom, administers medication and maintains documentation, and develops relationships with families and the community. Candidates need an Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalent with Nova Scotia classification, experience working in childcare, current first aid and CPR certification, clean criminal and vulnerable sector checks, child abuse registry check and up‑to‑date immunizations.
